Carpets in a commercial environment are often heavily used and abused with dirty foot traffic. They act as filters in the indoor space trapping airborne dust that falls down in-between the fibres as well as grit and other dirt from our shoes. Carpet cleaning is the removal of dust, dirt, grit, stains and allergens from the fibres and structure of the carpet.
There are a number of systems available for cleaning of carpets but at EPS Envirotech we use the system recommended by most carpet manufacturers – Hot Water Extraction.
Hot Water Extraction is often incorrectly referred to as “Steam Cleaning” but no steam is used in the process.
Hot water with dilute detergent is sprayed into the carpet and the solution is then simultaneously extracted together with dislodged and dissolved dirt. Where carpets are extremely dirty they are pre-sprayed with heavy duty cleaners which are then rinsed out with the regular cleaning solution.
This system is also recognised as the safest and most effective system of cleaning and does not contaminate the indoor environment with VOC’s (Volatile Organic Compounds) as used in some of the other methods.
EPS Envirotech utilises top of the range industrial carpet cleaning machines which have state of the art vacuum systems ensuring that virtually all of the cleaning solution is removed and drying times are kept to a minimum.
Clean carpets are potentially longer lasting and healthier as well as being more attractive.
Upholstery cleaning is a similar process using the same equipment but often involves more stain removal products and is a more delicate and time consuming process.
